Umoja takes 52 top eight places in PAUTAFC

The 2009 Pacific Association Youth Track and Field Championships was held on Saturday and Sunday, June 13th and 14th at Santa Rosa High School in Santa Rosa, CA. The event showcased the youth talent of the USA Track and Field's Pacific Association. Medals were awarded for the top six places in each event, and trophies were awarded to the top teams in each division based on point totals from the top eight places in each event.
The Umoja Track Club had 52 top eight places in total; 11 first place finishes, 8 second place finishes, and 10 third place finishes. The top girl performer for Umoja was Taylor Rainey. She won the 200 Meter Dash, placed second in the 400 Meter Dash, and anchored the winning 4x100 Meter Relay team. Her efforts helped propell the Sub-Bantam Girls to the team title. For the boys, Jalen Williams was the top performer. He won the 100 Meter Dash and provided strong relay splits for both the winning 4x100 Meter and 4x400 Meter Youth Boys Relay teams. However, the most impressive individual Umoja performances belong to Jade Baynard and Daimon Todd. Jade's winning time in the 400 Meter Dash for Midget Girls (11 and 12 year olds), 1 minute and 0.66 seconds was the fastest 400 Meter Dash time for all girls/young women divisions (up to 18 year olds). Daimon's winning time in the 3000 Meter Youth Boys Race Walk, 16 minutes and 39.90 seconds, was not only a personal best, but his time makes him the national leader by almost 2 minutes ((National Elite Youth Ranking System).
