Umoja takes 52 top eight places in PAUTAFC

The 2009 Pacific Association Youth Track and Field Championships was held on Saturday and Sunday, June 13th and 14th at Santa Rosa High School in Santa Rosa, CA. The event showcased the youth talent of the USA Track and Field's Pacific Association. Medals were awarded for the top six places in each event, and trophies were awarded to the top teams in each division based on point totals from the top eight places in each event.
The Umoja Track Club had 52 top eight places in total; 11 first place finishes, 8 second place finishes, and 10 third place finishes. The top girl performer for Umoja was Taylor Rainey. She won the 200 Meter Dash, placed second in the 400 Meter Dash, and anchored the winning 4x100 Meter Relay team. Her efforts helped propell the Sub-Bantam Girls to the team title. For the boys, Jalen Williams was the top performer. He won the 100 Meter Dash and provided strong relay splits for both the winning 4x100 Meter and 4x400 Meter Youth Boys Relay teams. However, the most impressive individual Umoja performances belong to Jade Baynard and Daimon Todd. Jade's winning time in the 400 Meter Dash for Midget Girls (11 and 12 year olds), 1 minute and 0.66 seconds was the fastest 400 Meter Dash time for all girls/young women divisions (up to 18 year olds). Daimon's winning time in the 3000 Meter Youth Boys Race Walk, 16 minutes and 39.90 seconds, was not only a personal best, but his time makes him the national leader by almost 2 minutes ((National Elite Youth Ranking System).

San Francisco 49ers lend Support to local Kids!!!

Local Youth Track Club receives a promotional Boost for trip to Junior Olympics from the San Francisco 49ers!

The San Francisco 49ers have signed on as Advertising sponsors to help a local track and field club on their quest to get to Junior Olympics during this down economy. The Santa Clara, Umoja Track club, located here in the silicon valley has over 90 athletes aged 7-18. These local kids from all over the south bay area have been the receipients of many rewards, titles and championships in Track and Field and the team supports and promotes a healthy lifestyle to children and parents. This year the local team has almost 30 children qualifying for the Junior Olympics (USATF) in Greensboro, NC in August. The team has done several fundraising events but have only raised 9k and time is getting closer. With champions on the team like Cynthia Smith who was the featured athlete in Youth runner mag http://youth-usatf.youthrunner.com/ it is unbelivable that they don't have a sponsor in this region.

The Umoja Track Club is receiving 50% of the proceeds from a musical showcase being hosted Tuesday June 16th at Santa Clara's hottest venue "Nightclub Avalon", known for its legendary interior decoration and world class sound systems. The showcase is one of 4 musical centered event fundraisers geared at spotlighting local talent, and raising funds for local charities. As the "Jazz Edition" recipient www.umojatrackclub.com is requesting your presence at the event on June 16th 2009 "Red carpet" starting early for VIPs ad Local celebs at 7pm. This Tuesdays event is for 21 and over and includes a wine tasting session hosted by Bottlenotes.com on behalf of CEO Alyssa Rapp who states “Bottlenotes.com salutes the extraordinary hard work of the student athletes at Umoja Track Club and the extensive volunteer work by parents to support their children pursue their athletic dreams.” –Alyssa J.
